The SBMU Endodontic Research Center (ERC) was established in 2007 following the request made by the Department of Endodontic of the SBMU School of Dentistry, and the efforts made by Professor Saeed Asgari and 5 of the academic staff. The SBMU ERC conducts numerous researches in the field.
The “Iranian Centre for Endodontic Research”(ICER), as one of the most prominent and leading research centres at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU), was established in 2007 in response to the pronounced demand for diverse research in Endodontics as well as the formal request by the Department of Endodontics at the School of Dentistry, SBMU. Since its establishment, ICER has sought to accomplish various objectives through abundant cooperation with local and international researchers, members of academia and noted scientists from numerous faculties, schools and institutions; and has conducted broad and high-quality scientific studies and research in different areas of Endodontics, primarily in the prevention and treatment of pulp-periapical pathosis, Endodontic biomaterials, root canal microbiology, oral biology and corresponding areas, so as to promote the current understanding of the science and transfer basic/applied research to patient-oriented research. Furthermore, ICER tries to translate the enhancements of basic and applied sciences to the clinical setting as one of its most important missions and priorities.
Additionally, ICER:
· Pursues the macro-research policies of the university.
· Creates an appropriate environment to conduct various research projects, for the faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students of Dentistry.
· Provides proper grounds for the education and guidance on research, its design and analysis for the faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students of Dentistry.
· Publishes high-quality clinical and basic science research in Endodontics and related subjects.
· Establishes rapport between researchers and clinicians.
· Examines the latest technology in Endodontics.
Manages the “Iranian Endodontic Journal (IEJ)” as a prestigious peer-reviewed internationally-indexed journal on Endodontics and corresponding branches.
